Dawn Wesselby

Dawn Wesselby is a mixed media artist with a leaning towards ceramics as she is fascinated by its versatile and earthy nature.  Her work is currently focussed on the forgotten nature of the divine feminine.  Inspired by ancient goddess forms such as the Venus of Willendorf and Venus of Holhe Fels, she seeks to recreate representations of the ancient goddesses.

More recently she created a contextual piece called 'They are afraid we will laugh...' which focussed on the deaths of women killed by men in 2018 and represents the 170 women who were murdered over the year.  The title refers to the quote  attributed to Margaret Attwood 'Men are afraid women will laugh at them, women are afraid men will kill them'.
